Junior Dance Division

Junior division classes are taught at Los Angeles Ballet Academy by our trained teachers. Our teachers are credentialed by the Royal Academy of Dance the Checcetti Council or similar governing body and have had professional dance experience. Our Junior Teachers have all passed their Royal Academy of Dance Intermediate Examination and have assisted extensively before being given the responsibility of their own class. They are then mentored by credentialed teachers in the academy as they continue their studies in dance and the teaching of dance.

Introduction to Dance and Pre Ballet/Tap are open to girls and boys ages aged 3 years old through Kindergarten. Little dancers love to move, and pretend and we utilize these natural tenancies to gently introduce them to dance. Dancers need to work in their own body space and wait their turn, they need to learn to respect the studio, the teacher and understand what each piece of equipment in the dance room is used for. Young dancers absorb this while listening to different kinds of music, and dancing with scarves, tambourines, singing songs, tumbling, and tap dancing. The teachers will introduce basic ballet positions, age appropriate stretching exercises and correct posture in a positive and creative environment.

We come to you!
Preschool Dance offers girls and boys the joy of dance during their preschool day. It can be offered as part of the school curriculum or as a special activity. We enjoy teaching it as part of the curriculum because every student is then given the experience and parents and teachers are often surprised by shy students or sports enthusiasts who may not have previously considered dance as an activity, who uncover hidden talents of coordination, improvisation, musicality and the love of movement. Boys especially benefit from the experience of everyone participating and thoroughly enjoy an activity that they may not have considered till they try it. As a special activity, classes are often run after school at the same site so parents do not have to drive their children to yet another location for dance. They look forward to their special treat once a week when the dance teacher comes to school. Classes include stretching, dance games, use of props, theatre games, basic tumbling skills, songs, ballet fundamentals taught with a creative approach and lots of imagery.
Tap can also be offered if the space permits. Contact us for more information.

Pre Primary and Primary Ballet introduce young dancers to the basics of Ballet technique. Still using a creative and imaginative approach this class prepares them for the Student division and introduces basic skills that will be further developed in the Grade 1 level and above. Examinations are available at the primary level.

Pre Jazz/Tap has the same goals and introduces Jazz and Tap basics. Dancers stretch, learn basic across the floor patterns and work on combining steps in combination or age appropriate choreography forms.
